Take time to prepare for hurricane season, as it's always best to be prepared early to try and avoid any un-necessary damage from occurring.
Evacuation Plans - Learn what you community offers for warning, shelter and evacuation. Then, have a family plan in case of evacuation. Make sure to have meeting places and everyone knows all the contact & emergency phone numbers.
Emergency Kits - When a storm hits, and you are stuck inside or forced to evacuate, it’s best to have emergency kits ready. Make sure to include water, food, blankets, first aid kit, radio, flashlight, cash and medicine.
Prepare your Home - Preparing your home is best before the hurricane strikes as you won’t have time when it’s already coming. Install storm shutters or have plywood cut ready to install if needed. Secure any outdoor furniture that can’t be brought inside quickly.
Lastly, make sure you have the proper homeowners insurance coverage for hurricane season and the right policy if you need to submit a claim.
